American Doctorate Degree Programs-Brandeis University

Brandeis University is a private liberal arts school in Waltham, Massachusetts. Ranked number 31 in America, among other national universities, according to U.S. News and World Report, it was founded in 1948. It typically admits around 30-35% percent of it’s applicants, placing it among some of the more highly competitive schools in the nation, though it is not among the most competitive in the Northeast.

Brandeis has a graduate school of arts and sciences as well as The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, and the Brandeis International Business School. While PhDs are not available in every subject, each of these schools offers doctorate degree programs. The Heller School offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Policy and the business school has a doctorate in International Economics and Finance. The school of arts and sciences offers doctorate degree programs in American History, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Comparative History, Computer Science, English and American Literature, Mathematics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Music Composition and Theory, Musicology, Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, Neuroscience, Physics, Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.

While the specific admission requirements for each of the doctorate degree programs may differ, the general requirements for each are as follows: a statement of purpose, a resume, two or three letters of recommendation, transcripts of institutions attended, written work, and resent GRE scores. International students with no English language background, must include recent TOFEL and IELTS results with admission application. There may be additional requirements depending on which area of study a student chooses.
