Vanderbilt University is a private university in Nashville, TN, which was founded in 1873. Vanderbilt has six graduate schools, with students from all 50 states as well as 90 foreign countries. The University is ranked in the top 20 recipients of federal research funds of all universities in the United States.

Vanderbilt offers a wide variety of doctorate degree programs, which include those in science, such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, and physics. There are numerous doctorate degree programs offered in psychology, with specialties in developmental, clinical, and quantitative psychology. The university also offers the Ph.D. program in French, English, religion, philosophy, history, and various fields in education.
